AquaSalina+ PNS/Clear Roads QPL

Pacific Northwest Snowfighters Association (PNS)/Clear Roads Qualified Products List (QPL)

Due to the adminstrative restructuring of the PNS organization, Clear Roads has assumed responsiblity of the Qualified Products List. The product testing and administration of the QPL will remain essentially the same.

Mission

The mission of the PNS/Clear Roads is to "strive to serve the traveling public by evaluating and establishing specifications for products used in winter maintenance that emphasize safety, environmental preservation, infrastructure protection, cost-effectiveness and performance."

The specifications developed by PNS help guide transportation agencies around the country in the selection of chemical products for winter maintenance applications. Products selected for inclusion on the PNS Qualified Product List (QPL) must meet the following criteria:

—Pass a series of tests for friction, corrosion, and chemical and toxicological properties

—Meet environmental and health standards

1 – Potassium cetate

2- 12.5% Calcium Magnesium Acetate and 25% Potassium Acetate

3 – The product contains a 25% Potassium Acetate concentration. The product also contains 30% Carbohydrate material which is still under consideration as an active ingredient but at this time has not be included.

4 – Potassium Acetate

5- 15% Sodium Chloride, blend of 60% Fusion/40% Salt Brine

6- Total Chloride Salt Blend with CaCI2-11.9%, MgCL2- 3.4%, KCL-2.7%, NaCI-3.7% . Carbohydrate content-28.8%. **Material approved as pre-wet material to solid salt and not for direct application as a liquid deicer.

7- Total Chloride Salt Blend with CaC12-9.0%, MgCL2- 2.5, and NaCI-11.0% .

Those products marked with an asterisk(*) indicates that the stratification can be seen and agitation is required.
